It’s resplendent with character-filled heritage homes, glorious cool climate gardens and a National Trust-classified town centre lined with cherry trees that sends Instagrammers into a frenzy during blossom season. Don’t miss a visit to the Woodencraft shop, one of my favorites.
Optional visit of a coal mine, On the Scenic Railway, jump aboard the world’s steepest passenger train, traveling from the escarpment down 310m into the forest on a 52-degree rail incline. At the base, a web of hiking trails explore the Jamison Valley rainforest. Take the train’s return trip, or catch the 545m Scenic Cableway back to the top. Extra cost
